Intel Increases Investment in Planned Vietnam Facility to US$1bln

Intel has announced that it will increase its investment in setting up an assembly and test facility in Vietnam to US$1 billion. The size of the planned facility in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park will be expanded to 500,000 square feet, making it Intel's largest assembly and test facility worldwide. Construction on the facility is expected to start in March 2007 at the earliest, and production is projected to commence by 2009. Up to 4,000 workers are likely to be recruited by Intel in Vietnam.
